I've been a cardiac monitor tech for 11+ years. It's a sedentary job. About 4 years ago, I decided that my fitness was lacking and I was overweight. I decided to commit to losing weight and getting in better shape. Intermittent fasting and walking 10k steps a day was how I started. Once I lost about 50lbs I started to try running and became addicted. Within 2 years I'd lost 100 lbs and became a serious, competitive runner. Now I run half marathons and have run a sub 1:30 race at age 53!
