New Patient Story

  • Location: Lake Forest Park,
Hello I am a registered nurse with a bachelor’s in science of nursing and a minor in early childhood education. I am also a parent of 14 year old high school twin boys and my husband and I have been married for 17 years now. Both of my twin boys are in high school football one of them is a quarterback and the other twin is wide receiver. I am absolutely proud of myself my husband and my twin boys for all our accomplishments and hard work. Our twin boys were eight months old when I started to go back to school. One of my older sisters was the motivation behind my decision to go back to school as a student parent and of course my husband supported that and I was able to receive not only financial support from school but also emotional support from home. University of Washington school of nursing here in Seattle is one of the schools who actually provide childcare grants for student parents. I was also lucky enough since this was during President Obama‘s presidency to have free housing and other public assistance . I felt like I was in the right place at the right time. I have been reminded of this luck when as a float RN, I work in our addiction recovery unit for pregnant women where I read my patients charts and I see how some of these women were in the wrong place at the wrong time. I remember always thinking and dwelling on my misfortunes and events in my life but now I realize Bad things happen for a reason and I am so blessed and thankful for the results. I have also learned that life will never get easy, but once we accomplish our goals and reach our dreams we realize that we can tackle any difficulties or curveballs that life throws at us with ease and grace. Also we would be able to look at life’s challenges as a chance for new opportunities and new ways to grow and become a better version of ourselves.
