Follow Your Dreams

I knew I wanted to be a Nurse for a very long time but never knew where I should start. When I graduated high school I attended Chemeketa Community College and never knew what classes to take and wasn't in a good place in life so I sadly flunked out of community college. I felt like my dream of being a nurse was out of reach. My older sister began taking classes for Medical Assistant and encouraged me to do so also. I'm so glad I listened. I finished my MA program in 2010 and have worked in several different specialties including Dermatology, Pediatrics, Ob/Gyn, and Midwifery. Being an MA has been very rewarding but I still felt like I wanted more. In 2017 I started taking prerequisites for nursing again, except this time around I had my sister who was also going to school for nursing to help and guide me through. Its been a long hard road of working full-time and going to school part-time but I'm so happy to say that I will finally be able to begin applying for nursing programs next year. I have a hard time giving up on things, especially things that I feel called to do. I can't wait to have "RN BSN" after my last name. I know I still have a ways to go but I know I will get there and I'm so thankful I have such a good support group that continues to encourage me to follow my dreams.
